Experience a world class multi-pitch adventure on some of the tallest limestone in North America, just south of the border! Rock-About guides have been climbing here since it’s beginning in the late 80′s. Enjoy the spectacular desert & mountain landscape of the Sierra Madre. Climbers are welcomed in the nearby by town of Hidalgo, where you can experience local culture, food, music and more. Tour from the Potrero to rock art sites and the relaxing hot springs for the day. There is also big city night life in the modern city of Monterey, Nuevo Leon!
El Potrero is considered one of the top 10 locations to climb in the world. In addition to well over 500 routes, the area boasts the second longest sport route in North America, Timewave Zero, ringing in at 23 pitches and over 2000 feet. New routes are continually being developed. There is a large range of different climbs, most of them in the 5.8 to 5.13 grade. The type of climbing can range from steep overhanging face to easy slab.
Prices: $ 250/person/day. Private housing, transportation arrangements from Monterey, Airport or Texas, and local tours available for extra fees (contact for arrangements).

First, you must call or email Rock-About to discuss specifics for an Adventure course and your current climbing skill level.
Registration and payment confirmation for adventures, must be made before 2 weeks before the class date.
If you register online you must pay the required course deposit one week in advance of class date to confirm your class. If you want to register for a class within 48 hours of class time. Please contact Rock-About by phone.
72 hour cancellation notice required for refund of deposit. Rain outs will be called by Rock-About guides the day of the class. If class is canceled, fees will be refunded or held for a rain check.
It is the participant’ s responsibility to arrange any overnight accommodations/camping and pay any applicable park fees before meeting Rock-About staff at the location designated in your confirmed registration.
Graduates of our Climbing Programs receive discounts on adventures to the Pecos River and Mexico.
