Adam Mitchell

Adam Mitchell

Adam grew up in northeast Texas on a farm. Raising cattle, chickens, and horses always drew him to adventurous things. As his rodeo career, riding bareback horses and bulls, came to an end due to a dreadful leg injury he attended St. Edward’s University where he obtained a BA in Communication Studies.

Not having the rush an adrenaline junky needs he wondered aimlessly through life until he found the thrill of rock climbing by chance. He now has years of experience Texas climbing and has been a guiding for Rock-About for four years now. He really enjoys passing on his enthusiasm and knowledge about rock climbing in the vertical world. Scouts, new climbers, and experienced alike can gain skills for technique and safety through Adam’s patient coaching. Enchanted Rock is one of his favorite jewels as well as Reimer’s Ranch, as well as our Austin crags at the Austin Greenbelt.  To him it is the people that you share a climb with not the climb itself that makes the past-time.  He knows Rock-About has earned it’s position on TripAdvisor as one of the top attractions in the Austin area.

He is an American Mountain Guides Association Single Pitch Instructor and a certified Wilderness First Responder.  So, rest assured that he is knowledgeable and uses his skills to reduce the risks associated with climbing and the outdoors.
