Carlos Garza

Carlos started climbing in 2000 and was hooked after sending his first bouldering problem in borrowed shoes. He fell in with a group of semi pro climbers and explored and conquered most of the bouldering problems and high ball free climbs in the little known Red Bluff climbing area east of San Antonio.  His smooth style and grim determination caught the attention of some of the regions best climbers and he was featured in Joe Sulak’s Guide to Climbing Red Bluff.

Soon after taking up bouldering, Carlos excelled through sport climbing and was able to work hundreds of routes at Hueco Tanks, Reimers Ranch, Enchanted Rock and Potrero Chico Mexico with these newly acquired skills. The climbing world opened up to him before eventually moving to the central Texas climbing meca of Austin where climbing became a part of his daily life. If there is a rock worth climbing in or around south Texas, Carlos has probably left some chalk on it. Carlos is always positive and great climbing partner no matter what skill level you’re at.  His solid technical prowess and easy-going attitude puts even the most amateur climber at ease. He’s a great instructor and always maintains and promotes a safety first approach to having fun.
