Christopher “Fozzy” Reaves

Christopher Reaves or “Fozzy”, began his climbing career in 2003 under the wing of Bird Dog.  Realizing that helping Bird Dog with some of the guide duties he could gain time on the rope and extremely valuable experience, he quickly befriended much of the Rock About crew.  He received his Lead Guide Certification at Enchanted Rock and began working in the park shortly thereafter.

While his climbing began in 2003 it was simply the next step in a quest for outdoor adventure.  Fozzy has spent time in over 20 National Parks, with over 50 trips into the Big Bend backcountry alone.  Since 2003 he has climbed in Texas, New Mexico, Mexico, Colorado, and has even put up a few first ascents with ”The Master” Alvino.

Fozzy currently resides in Fredericksburg Texas where he operates a bed and breakfast in the historic Baines House.  Living in the heart of the hill country and working in the tourism industry provides ample time and excuses for exploring the area.  The means for exploring varies = greatly however.  With Enchanted Rock in the neighborhood much of his time is spent there, however kayaking some of the more obscure waterways in the area have become a recent hobby.  Backpacking in Big Bend, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and hot rod building consume the other time in Fozzy’s life.  Bird Dog and Fozzy also have a keen interest in local folklore and history which has lead them to participate in living history events portraying the 1870′s to 1890′s.  Whether searching for arrowheads, hunting, or climbing at Enchanted Rock, Fozzy is proud to call the Hill Country home.
