Guided Outdoor Rock Climbing

As we embark on this climbing adventure, safety is at the forefront of our minds. In beginner climbing, we teach basic climbing techniques to ensure that you are equipped to handle whatever challenges the mountain presents. But you won’t do it alone – this day is all about teamwork, trust, and communication with your fellow climbers.

We’ll help each other navigate the terrain, exchange tips and tricks, and rely on each other for support. But it’s not just about the climb – we’re also here to have a great time and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.

Outdoor Rock Climbing Guided Experiences

Scouts and Nonprofits From $85

When your scout or nonprofit group is ready to learn how to climb in a fun and safe environment, Rock-About Climbing Adventures is here to help! We’ve been teaching scout and nonprofit groups for more than twenty years, and we love helping kids discover the adventure that is rock climbing.

When you book a group session with Rock-About, we provide all of the gear necessary, so all you need to bring is lunch and drinks. Most group climbing programs take all day, so wear comfortable clothes and be prepared for a full day of climbing!

If you’re leading a scout group that is seeking a Merit badge, we can help with that as well. For merit badge groups, we have at least one merit badge counselor on-site during the class. With our skilled, certified instructors and years of experience teaching scouts, we are proud to be the most sought-after climbing instructors for Boy and Girl Scouts in Texas.

What to Expect on an Outdoor Rock Climbing Trip

Once you’ve confirmed your class, you will be sent the meeting information and a checklist of needs for the day of your class. We include all climbing gear, including helmets, climbing shoes, harnesses, and ropes, so you never need to worry about gear rental fees.

During the beginner class, you will learn:

  • Basic top rope safety
  • How to tie a figure 8 knot
  • How to belay
  • Communication skills
  • Climbing technique

Our class has no minimum age, but please be sure any children are able to deal with any height-related fears.

Our beginner climbing course is offered at:

In your first session, you can expect to complete anywhere from six to eight climbs. But it’s not just about the number of climbs you do. We want to make sure you have enough time to fully immerse yourself in this thrilling sport, which is why we recommend setting aside at least four to five hours for your climbing day (maybe even longer if you’re headed to Enchanted Rock). Safety is our top priority, so you’ll learn the basics before getting on the rock and giving it your all. Get ready to feel the rush of adrenaline as you climb higher and push yourself to the limit!
