Scout Groups and Nonprofit Groups

Rock-About has offered all different types of scouts quality rock climbing and rappelling programs since its inception in 2001. Enchanted Rock and Reimer’s Ranch, and Mineral Wells Sate Park offers the best rock climbing available in Texas for your scouts. We have also been working with all different types of nonprofit groups, Churches, Youth groups, And other various nonprofits.

Details:

  • Can choose to be a climbing day focused on fun or Merit Badge day, Girl Scouts, Scouts, or Trail Life Scouts
  • We can handle large groups with AMGA certified staff and quality gear
  • Most group programs take most of the day, be prepared with packable lunch and water
  • We provide all climbing gear with our fee
  • $200 deposit to schedule, the number is an assumption. We require the confirmation number 7 days in advance and we charge for that number on the credit card on file once receive the confirmation number.

All of Rock-About lead instructors are Minimally certified as AMGA Single Pitch Instructors and the Owner is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide and AMGA SPI Provider.

For the merit badge program, we have at least one merit badge counselor on-site for the day. We provide all the gear you need and safety training, as well as our AMGA-certified guides to help keep everyone safe and motivated. Rock-About is the most qualified and reasonable guide service for Boy and Girl Scouts and we ask for the opportunity to prove this to you.

Where is this climbing course?

We offer this course at Enchanted Rock, Reimer’s Ranch, Mineral Wells State Park, and the Austin Barton Creek Greenbelt.

What is included?

Gear Included for Your Scouts’ Rock Climbing: Helmets, climbing shoes, harnesses, and ropes
Our all-day group price is $85 per individual (minimum of seven people) and requires a $200 deposit.

Cancellations: Since these groups take a lot of our resources and are at a discounted rate, We have a 7 day cancellation policy meaning if you cancel or request a date reschedule prior to 7 days we can refund your deposit minus a $20 service fee or change the date. If you do not show up for your class or cancel within 7 days, there is no refund. If we have to cancel due to weather, we make that call in the parking lot the day of the class and we will reschedule or refund your deposit. As for weather the final decision is up top the guides the day of but we often contact our clients in advance to keep them informed. Forecasts aren’t often accurate so an early determination usually isn’t accurate.

Kids Climbing Camp

In addition to scout groups, we also offer a kids climbing camp in the summer, as well as during spring break! Designed for kids ages 9 and up, these camps require no experience, though they can also provide a challenge to more experienced climbers.

Each week of camp includes 5 days of climbing, as well as swimming on most days in the afternoon. All gear is included, and the kids are instructed in safety before any climbing happens. Book your kid’s summer climbing camp experience online or give us a call to learn more.
