In this lead climbing course, we teach you how to be a sport climbing aficionado. Not only do we teach all lead climbing techniques but we focus intently on learning how to clean a route safely, which is hugely important outdoors.
Sport climbing has been revolutionary in the advancement of climbing. Clipping bolts have been an essential part of the advancement of the climbing community and difficult grades. You too can learn to climb on lead in the outdoors with one of our experienced and SPI certified lead guides .
There are many dangerous practices out there that you can avoid by learning from a professional. You can join us at our beautiful Texas locations, Enchanted Rock, Reimer’s Ranch, or the Austin Greenbelt, to learn to be self-sufficient and empowered on your climbs.
All of Rock-About lead instructors are Minimally certified as AMGA Single Pitch Instructors and the Owner is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide and AMGA SPI Provider.
Courses are held daily at 8:15 a.m. At the end of this course, you’ll not only walk away with new rock climbing skills but also with amazing memories.
Gear Included in Your Lead Climbing Course: Helmets, climbing shoes, harnesses, and ropes, Other lead climbing gear if needed.
Payment required to confirm class. 72-hour cancellation notice required for refund of deposit minus a $20 service fee. Rainouts will be called by Rock-About guides the day of the class. If class is canceled, fees will be refunded or held for a rain check.

In our traditional climbing course, we teach techniques from the American Mountain Guides Association. These techniques include passive and active gear placement, knots and hitches used in climbing, how to lead a traditional climbing tour, rappelling, and more. We also offer an optional second day, where you’ll learn more about anchor construction, gear placement, and crack climbing.
